Fenwick Girls Beats Grizzlies to End the Tiering Round; Girls to Play in top Bracket
The Fenwick girl’s hockey team closed out the tiering round with a 4-2 victory over the Burlington Grizzlies on Sunday, October 20.
Two players were responsible for all of the Friar goals. Freshman Brook Vogel opened the scoring in the game getting the team on the board early in the second period on a pass from Junior Gabrielle Ledoux. The Grizzlies then answered back in the second scoring two unassisted goals.
In the third, Vogel tied the game on a pass from Junior Kaitlin Dill. Dill then added two more goals in the third. Both were unassisted tallies on her first game back from injury.
Freshman goaltender Mikey Romero got the W with 7 saves and the Friars had 47 shots on goal. The team ended the tiering round 4-0-2 and will play in the top bracket – the Scholastic Cup – for the regular season.
The regular season kicks off on Sunday, October 27. The Friars will play at home against Naper Valley at 7:10 p.m. at the Edge in Bensenville.
